Growing up, Jen was always busy. When she wasn’t at school, she could be found training in the dance studio, teaching pre-ballet classes, out doing community service with various organizations through her various pageant titles, or rescuing an animal. There were very few days she was able to be a “normal” person of her age. However, she is thankful of her unique upbringing as it has shaped her into a multi-faceted adult.

During high school, Jen discovered her love for teaching as she was a pre-ballet teacher at only 15 years old. She then pursued this interest by volunteering in different elementary school classrooms and then earning Bachelor degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. She is currently a full time preschool teacher, a mentor teacher for teacher candidates, and is pursuing her Master’s in Education for Curriculum Studies for preschool through 3rd grade.

Jen took her love for animals from her childhood into her adulthood. She currently has 2 dogs (Sophie and Nattie), a lovebird (Lulu), and an African Grey parrot (Rhyno). Since she is known for her love for animals, people often reach out to her when they have an animal that needs to be rehomed or rescued so she often takes them in. Jen is a huge supporter of the Adopt, Don’t Shop movement as most of her animals growing up have been rescues.

In 2023, Jen retired from her life in pageantry. Jen was never a fan of competing against others, but she loved how pageantry helped to open doors to so many community service opportunities. Jen also loved that pageantry was empowering for women and it provided her with so many amazing and wonderful role models and friendships. Jen decided to retire from pageantry after almost 20 years as she felt it was finally time to move on to the next phase in her life: marriage and starting a family.

After leaving an abusive and toxic relationship in 2020, Jen found Landon in 2021. She is now engaged to Landon and they are doing a long distance relationship until 2026, when he graduates from Dental School and they get married.

Jen is starting this blog to not only share her life and knowledge with others, but in hopes of creating a community. Throughout her life, she had a hard time finding people that could fully relate to her because she led such a different life from peers her age. Jen hopes to help people navigate through challenging situations like long distance relationships, confusing times like wedding planning or working with children, and all the happy times in between.
